JONATHAN ON STAGES & AGES
(or why you shouldn’t expect his Goth phase anytime soon)
Tons of people experiment with their identities during junior high & high school, and that’s cool. (You might be over-doing it, though, if your cheerleader, hippie chick, and punk phases occur in the same semester.) As you probably know, Jonathan turned seventeen years old on September 8th, 1998. Celebrity Sightings wondered how (or if) he feels he has changed over the past few years. Is he more mature? Has he ever had a whacked-out rebellious stage? In short, we found that Jonathan’s personality has remained remarkably consistent and down-to-earth, in spite of growing up in the spotlight (which we actually could have guessed, knowing him as we do).
As he explained, “I’ve never gone through any weird stage where I was really a punk or I was hanging out with the wrong group of kids or anything like that. I’ve always been the same – always on the same track. I have progressed – it’s like I’m not the same exact person I was when I was fourteen. I’ve matured, but it’s been more like a natural course, a gradual progression. And though I’ve learned more, gained more information, and had more experiences… I never wore gigantic pants or shaved off all my hair or started wearing cowboy boots. It’s consistent. I am who I am. I’m not going to change.”
