The character is introduced in an episode called “Lineage,” airing Tuesday, Nov. 5. While Small’s exact significance in the plot is being kept secret, he is connected in some way to Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk).

It has also been confirmed that William B. Davis, who played the nefarious Cigarette-Smoking Man on “The X-Files,” appears in the Nov. 12 episode of “Smallville,” called “Ryan.” He plays Smallville’s corrupt Mayor Tate, who goes head-to-head with Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum).

Davis also appears as a priest in the new TV-movie “Clive Barker’s Saint Sinner,” airing Saturday, Oct. 26 on Sci Fi Channel, and has a recurring role as a hospital-morgue pathologist in Pax’s medical comedy-drama “Body & Soul.”

Last, but not least, former “Home Improvement” star Jonathan Taylor Thomas appears in the Tuesday, Nov. 19, episode, called “Dichotic.”Jonathan Taylor Thomas
He plays Ian, an overachiever in school who juggles Lana and Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) — without either of them knowing — which makes Clark Kent (Tom Welling) suspicious of his motives. Clark winds up accused of jealousy, but he’s right to wonder if Ian hides a dark secret.
