Define ‘gay’ in your own words. A lot of people come here and ask if Jonathan is ‘gay’. What do YOU think of when you say/hear the word ‘gay’.
With the people I am around when there said gay I know there mean a person liking there sex (guy liking guy or girl liking girl). But yet now today people are calling everyone and everything gay. I know the definition of ‘gay’ i wanted to know how [b]YOU[/b] defined it.
Well, the term “gay” does mean a lot of things nowadays, but its main connotation is still in reference to homosexual men and women, and that is what I believe the definition of “gay” is, a man who is homosexual or a woman who is a lesbian.

Okay, When people ask if [i]someones[/i]gay then that means homosexual or whatever. When people say [i]that’s[/i] gay it’s like another word for stupid or dumb. That’s how i think gay’s used and that’s how it’s used in Illinois! +)
As the mother of a gay man, all I can say is that my son’s life partner is male, they sleep together (I presume), they have a beautiful home together, and they seem relatively happy. I, therefore, assume that being gay means at least prefering same gender sex. That is, gay usually referring to males and Lesbian to females.

In my everyday life as a gay man, it has the obvious connotations. I’m glad that it’s used to describe homosexual people, as it’s got to be better than fag, queer, etc. But, I don’t think it’s necessarily an apt or accurate description. If you take gay to mean “happy”, then how many homosexual people are truly happy?
However, on the whole, I would describe “gay” as being someone who has an attraction for their own gender, who is also compassionate, willing to help others in need and someone who does not judge people at face value.
I must say that I do object a bit to “gay” being used as a derrogatory term in general conversation (“that’s so gay”, etc), as it has homophobic undertones, which can’t be good.
